MCBW START UP Design for Change

The pub­lic exhi­bi­tion MCBW START UP pro­vides an inspir­ing overview of cur­rent top­ics and devel­op­ments in the start-up scene in Bavaria. This year, the pre­sen­ta­tion pri­mar­i­ly high­lights eco­log­i­cal­ly and social­ly designed prod­ucts as well as dig­i­tal and tech­no­log­i­cal applications.

Young com­pa­nies that stand out for their design and inno­v­a­tive entre­pre­neur­ial approach will be pre­sent­ed. The focus is on young com­pa­nies from the fields of archi­tec­ture, health­care, inte­ri­or design, arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence, mobil­i­ty and fashion.

The com­pa­nies select­ed by bay­ern design use their prod­ucts and ser­vices to illus­trate how design is suc­cess­ful­ly used as a method, devel­op­ment envi­ron­ment and design tool by founders* in all devel­op­ment phases.

In a new­ly designed vir­tu­al exhi­bi­tion space, all vis­i­tors are invit­ed to inter­ac­tive­ly dis­cov­er the prod­ucts and ser­vices pre­sent­ed. The vir­tu­al exh­bi­tion space is open exclu­sive­ly dur­ing the MCBW 2021.

For the sev­enth time, the MCBW START UP plat­form ini­ti­at­ed by bay­ern design sup­ports the tar­get­ed exchange between design-ori­ent­ed start-ups, design­ers, experts from the busi­ness world and a broad public.

With the MCBW’s basic theme “Shap­ing Futures by Design” as a frame­work, the start-up plat­form 2021 is ded­i­cat­ed to the diverse ways in which young com­pa­nies help shape a sus­tain­able and inno­v­a­tive econ­o­my and soci­ety. Start-ups and design­ers play a spe­cial role in this devel­op­ment by devel­op­ing pio­neer­ing appli­ca­tions for new tech­nolo­gies or rethink­ing and redesign­ing prod­uct and ser­vice cycles.

The exhi­bi­tion will be com­ple­ment­ed by a sym­po­sium (live stream in Ger­man) on sus­tain­able, for­ward-look­ing and inspir­ing solu­tions and design approach­es, and by the­mat­ic work­shops. They addi­tion­al­ly offer con­crete assis­tance for the suc­cess­ful devel­op­ment of start-ups.
