The new MCBW 2020 Web­site has gone live

The appli­ca­tion stage for Pro­gram Part­ners of the 9th MUNICH CRE­ATIVE BUSI­NESS WEEK (MCBW), the largest event of its kind in Ger­many which will take place from March 7 to 15, 2020 has begun – design­ers, archi­tects, com­pa­nies, orga­ni­za­tions and insti­tu­tions can reg­is­ter at www.mcbw.de between now and Octo­ber 20, 2019.

MCBW, orga­nized by bay­ern design, takes places in the first quar­ter of every year and is the plat­form in Ger­many for the design and eco­nom­ic sec­tors to con­nect and joint­ly offer new local, region­al and glob­al impuls­es for the cen­ters of cre­ativ­i­ty of Munich and Bavaria. The mot­to of the next MCBW edi­tion also will be Design con­nects and will dri­ve out­stand­ing and mov­ing design top­ics. A spe­cial focus will be on SUS­TAIN BY DESIGN. Dr. Silke Claus, Man­ag­ing Direc­tor of bay­ern design, the orga­niz­er of MCBW, explains: “Design and the eco­nom­ic sec­tor rely on each oth­er more than ever, cre­at­ing top­i­cal solu­tions, solv­ing prob­lems, and devel­op­ing sus­tain­able mod­els for tomor­row. Good design dri­ves eco­log­ic, eco­nom­ic and social sus­tain­abil­i­ty. We cor­dial­ly invite our Pro­gram Part­ners to present their inspir­ing per­spec­tives on SUS­TAIN BY DESIGN to pro­fes­sion­als and fans of design at MCBW 2020 and we look for­ward to a sus­tain­able exchange.”

The future is not con­ceiv­able with­out sus­tain­abil­i­ty. Against this back­ground, the SUS­TAIN BY DESIGN focal theme will include top­ic clus­ters for MCBW Pro­gram Part­ners includ­ing the future of inno­va­tion, dig­i­ti­za­tion, com­mu­ni­ca­tion, work, urban areas, and fash­ion. “From design-dri­ven inno­va­tions in the start-up cul­ture and New Works’ approach­es to design think­ing to urban plan­ning, our top­ic clus­ters aim to inspire our Pro­gram Part­ners,” says Dr. Claus.

Land­shut is MCBW’s new Region­al Partner
The region of Land­shut in Low­er Bavaria is the Region­al Part­ner of MCBW 2020/21. The part­ner­ship is spon­sored by the dis­trict of Low­er Bavaria, the munic­i­pal­i­ty of Land­shut, the City of Land­shut, the coop­er­a­tion ini­tia­tive Sil­i­con Vil­stal, and Nieder­bay­ern-Forum. The region is char­ac­ter­ized by great busi­ness dynam­ics and has intro­duced a num­ber of cre­ative impuls­es which will be pre­sent­ed to the pub­lic as part of the MCBW region­al part­ner­ship. Con­nect­ing busi­ness­es, cre­ative peo­ple and the cul­tur­al sec­tor beyond region­al bor­ders is anoth­er key objective.

MCBW is the long week of design
The most recent edi­tion of MCBW in March of 2019 includ­ed 215 events and more than 120 Pro­gram Part­ners who deliv­ered a vibrant, con­ge­nial and future-ori­ent­ed nine-day design event. More than 70,000 vis­i­tors took advan­tage of the sub­stan­tial oppor­tu­ni­ties to trans­fer knowl­edge and explore inspir­ing design expe­ri­ences offered in two pro­grams, CRE­ATE BUSI­NESS! for pro­fes­sion­als and DESIGN SCHAU! for all oth­ers inter­est­ed in design.

At CRE­ATE BUSI­NESS!, design can be expe­ri­enced as a dri­ver of inno­va­tion and an active/creative and humane influ­ence on change: Big ideas, sus­tain­able trends, and new prod­ucts will be pre­sent­ed at con­fer­ences, sym­po­siums, work­shops, recep­tions, and many oth­er events. Busi­ness con­tacts, the trans­fer of know-how, and live­ly dis­cus­sions among cor­po­rate and design sec­tor par­tic­i­pants and among a vari­ety of cre­ative dis­ci­plines includ­ing design, brand­ing and archi­tec­ture will be fostered.

At DESIGN SCHAU!, design lovers can expe­ri­ence, sam­ple, and under­stand high-qual­i­ty design in all its facets direct­ly on site. Exhi­bi­tions, vernissages and oth­er events and ini­tia­tives about design cul­ture includ­ing archi­tec­ture orig­i­nat­ing in Bavaria and the rest of the world will take place at more than 150 loca­tions around Munich and Bavaria.
