Flanders inspires – bayern design in Belgium
bayern design’s goals include establishing contact, extending networks, and promoting design. To further these goals, Managing Director Dr. Silke Claus is traveling through the Belgian region of Flanders this week. She will visit diverse institutions and organizations in Brussels, Gent, Antwerp, Mol and Leuven.
Dr. Claus will meet with leaders in the political, cultural and economic sectors to build relationships with members of the Bavarian design industry. Initial partner projects could involve Munich Creative Business Week (MCBW), the largest design event in Germany.
Flemish designers are particularly active in fashion, industrial design, medical technology and interior design and exhibit their projects on a regular basis around the world. Contemporary works also are showcased at two major design events in Belgium: At Biennale Interieur held every two years in Kortrijk, manufacturers introduce their latest interior design creations, and Design September transforms Brussels into a hotspot for designers from Belgium and abroad for one whole month. The event includes exhibitions, conferences, pop-up stores, and a design marketplace.
