Review of Expo 2015
20. October 2015
The Smart Innovation – Design from Bavaria exhibition and a panel discussion were bayern design’s contributions to Bavarian Culture Week at the German pavilion at Expo Milan 2015. The interactive exhibition was inaugurated officially on October 5 by Peter Winter, Chair of the Budget Committee, and Dr. Silke Claus, Managing Director of bayern design. As part of its news program the Bavarian broadcasting station reported extensively about the inauguration.
The ICAROS presentation was a major attraction for visitors and several hobby pilots took the interactive fitness device for a virtual flight. The Hyve Innovation Design GmbH team members who designed the device were thrilled. Johannes Scholl, Senior Innovation Designer, said: “For us at Hyve, EXPO 2015 was a great success – fantastic mood, great ambiance, and many inspired visitors. We are pleased to have contributed ICAROS to the interesting exhibition.”
To conclude Bavarian Culture Week, on October 11 bayern design hosted a panel discussion on Smart Innovation – Design from Bavaria. Dr. Angelika Nollert, Director of Die Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum; Andreas Koop, founder of designgruppe koop and organizer of the Stadt.Land.Schluss conference; and Prof. Kilian Stauss, founder of stauss processform, discussed the future of design and its role in innovation processes. The discussion was moderated in an entertaining fashion by Italian-born designer and professor of visual communication Alessio Leonardi. His spontaneous illustrations of the contributions to the discussion were well-received by the audience in Milan.
