At the invitation of the DesignSingapore Council, Dr. Silke Claus, Managing Director of bayern design, attended the International Design Policy Round Table on November 20/21, 2017 in Singapore to represent the interests of the Bavarian design sector. Participants included delegates of the leading design centers in Australia, China, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, New Zeeland, Spain and Taiwan. bayern design was the only invitee from Germany, a fact that highlights the special position of the State of Bavaria’s design competence center.
The goal of this meeting of renowned design centers from around the world was to share strategies for the advancement of design and discuss how to foster design and innovation in the corporate and the political sectors.
The International Design Policy Round Table was hosted by the DesignSingapore Council, which was established in 2003, employs 200 people and is sponsored by the Ministry of Communications and Information. Its mission is to advance design in order to drive the local economy’s power of innovation and develop Singapore as an attractive site. A vibrant design scene has developed in Singapore since the inception of the DesignSingapore Council. The annual Singapore Design Week is its flagship and a hotspot for design enthusiasts in Southeast Asia. In late 2015, UNESCO awarded Singapore the title of Creative City of Design.
