From emo­jis to sky­scrap­ers, from chairs to satel­lites – near­ly every­thing we inter­act with today has been designed. What defines good design? What must design be able to achieve in the con­text of trans­for­ma­tion in the envi­ron­ment and soci­ety or tech­no­log­i­cal advance­ment? These are the ques­tions explored in the exhi­bi­tion “design con­nects. What design can achieve”.

Design has long since moved beyond shap­ing sur­faces and forms. Today, it influ­ences every aspect of our dai­ly lives, how we live togeth­er, and how we inter­act with nature. Good design connects.

From inclu­sive mobil­i­ty to par­tic­i­pa­to­ry urban spaces, from renew­able ener­gy solu­tions to hos­pi­tal envi­ron­ments that pro­mote well-being, the exhi­bi­tion exam­ines the poten­tial of design from numer­ous per­spec­tives: Design fos­ters par­tic­i­pa­tion in a diverse soci­ety, pro­vides ori­en­ta­tion in an increas­ing­ly com­plex world, merges inter­ests, and gen­er­ates inno­v­a­tive solu­tions. Through insights, exam­ples, and expert voic­es, the exhi­bi­tion shows what design can achieve and how it works.
