Statements: usable - unusable / Tableware - Contemporary positions
11. bis 13. März 2015Nürnberg - München
18:00 bis 16:00 Uhr
Useful? - Comfortable? - Functional? - Everyday item? - Ceremonial object? - Fetish? Does this question about function matter anyway? are such objects really meaningful due to their actual functionality - or due to their ceremonial, symbolic character?
The Silber Sommer Galerie 2015 will host a symposium, which will take place at the New Museum - State Museum for Art and Design in Nuremberg, as well as in Internationale Handwerksmesse Munich. Five international, contemporary silversmiths will present their work.
Focus of this mental journey are the tensions between usable and unusable, Which reflections do the invited artists presennt about the relevant question of usability? The objects designed by them are confronting us, as the observers, with this topic of usability.
